Beximco Pharma launches new drug for breast cancer

Breast cancer is one of the most deadly disease of women. The incidence of breast cancer is increasing now a days in our country. According to hospital based study at NICRH, Mohakhali incidence of female breast cancer in Bangladesh was recorded 23.32% of all types of cancer. It is the second most common cancer in female. In developed country the situation is very alarming. In UK, 1 in every 9 women suffers from breast cancer.

A clinical meeting was held on the 14th December at National Institute Of Cancer Research & Hospital (NICRH), Mohkahali on Tamona which was chiared by Prof Md. Shahid Hossain. All of the doctors of NICRH were present in that meeting. In welcome address Mr. Subrata paul, product group manager informed about sophisticated production technology of anti-cancer drug. Equipped with sophisticated formulation technologies, Beximco Pharma has long felt the need for diversifying into newer therapeutic classes Anti-cancer, in order to bring hopes to the millions of cancer patients of this country. In near future they will introduce new anti-cancer drug. In that meeting renowned professors of NICRH also highlights the other indication of tamoxifen rather than the breast cancer. They said that besides the breast cancer Tamona (tamoxifen) is also indicated in the treatment of Cutaneous Melanoma & Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Beximco pharma introduces their first anti cancer drug 'Tamona' for the patient suffering from breast cancer. 'Tamona' a preparation of Tamoxifen, a SERM (selective estrogen receptor modulator) for breast cancer. Tamoxifen has been used as the most trusted hormone therapy for breast cancer irrespective of menopausal status for over a decade.It has broad clinical utility.
